NICE was asked by the Department of Health to develop guidance on Promoting the Wellbeing of Young People in Secondary Education. All registered stakeholders for the above public health intervention guidance are invited to comment on the draft scope. Transient loss of consciousness in adults: Scope consultation (3rd April 2008)
NICE have been asked to develop a clinical practice guideline on the Management of Transient Loss of Consciousness in Adults for use in the NHS in England and Wales. The draft scope defines what aspects of care the guideline will cover and to whom it will apply. Registered stakeholders for this guideline are invited to submit comments on the scope and may suggest clinical questions that could be answered in the guideline. Closing date for comments is 1st May 2008.

Osteoporosis – secondary prevention including strontium ranelate: Appraisal consultation document (4th April 2008)
The Department of Health and the Welsh Assembly Government have asked the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE or the Institute) to conduct an appraisal of alendronate, etidronate, risedronate, raloxifene, strontium ranelate and teriparatide for the secondary prevention of osteoporotic fragility fractures in postmenopausal women and provide guidance on their use to the NHS in England and Wales. The Appraisal Committee has had its first meeting following the publication of the appeal decision in December 2007 to consider both the new evidence presented and comments put forward by consultees and commentators. The Committee has developed preliminary recommendations on the use of alendronate, etidronate, risedronate, raloxifene, strontium ranelate and teriparatide for the secondary prevention of osteoporotic fragility fractures in postmenopausal women. Closing date for comments is 23rd April 2008.
