Opportunities for Volunteering scheme: 2008 annual report (4th February 2009)
For 26 years, the Opportunities for Volunteering Scheme has provided resources and expertise to support volunteering in health and social settings. In 2007/2008, over 27,800 volunteering opportunities were created in 314 projects in all parts of England.

VOLUNTEERING

Health Check - a practical guide to assessing the impact of volunteering in the NHS (24th July 2008)
A new report on a pilot study by Volunteering England, has been published which assesses the impact of volunteering within NHS Trusts. The pilot took place in five Trusts across England - Sussex Partnership Trust. Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, Luton and Dunstable Hospital, Wirral Primary Care Trust and Nottinghamshire Healthcare Trust.

VOLUNTEERING

Volunteering in the Public Services: Health and Social Care (10th March 2008)
This report is the first in a series examining the role of volunteers and volunteering in public services. It identifies a largely untapped source of volunteers in service users. It argues that they could make an enormous contribution as volunteers in health and social care because no one understands what it is like to have a condition like a person who has it themselves.
