Consultation on the Medical Profession (Miscellaneous Amendments) Order 2008 (6th March 2008)
The consultation paper asks for comments on a draft order. The changes proposed in the draft order would implement two of the reforms set out in the White Paper: Trust Assurance and Safety. The draft order also provides an additional route to the Specialist Register for NHS consultants. All amendments relate to the functions of the General Medical Council. Closing date for comments is 5th June 2008.

Nutrition labelling of foodstuffs (7th March 2008)
This consultation seeks views on the European Commission's proposal to amend the Nutrition Labelling Directive. The key proposals are a definition of dietary fibre, new energy conversion factors for fibre and erythritol and an update of recommended daily allowances for vitamins and minerals. Closing date for comments is 11th April 2008.

Children’s Environment and Health Action Plan for Europe (CEHAPE) (17th March 2008)
The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has been commissioned by the Department of Health, on behalf of the Interdepartmental Steering Group on Environment and Health, to evaluate children’s environmental health in the UK and develop recommendations as to how the UK can best meet its commitments under the CEHAPE and further protect children’s health. A Children’s Environment and Health Strategy for the UK is now out for consultation. The HPA are currently seeking feedback from interested parties on the Strategy. Closing date for comments is 13th June 2008.
